چکیده

The variable generalised stochastic epidemic (VGSE) model which allows for variability in both the susceptibility and infectivity of individuals is analysed. A very different epidemic model which exhibits variable susceptibility and infectivity is the random graph epidemic model. A suitable coupling of the two epidemic models is derived, which enables us to show that, whilst the epidemics are very different in appearance, they have the same asymptotic final size distribution. The coupling provides a novel approach for studying random graph epidemic models.

Epidemiological models with parametric heterogeneity: Deterministic theory for closed populations

We present a unified mathematical approach to epidemiological models with parametric heterogeneity, i.e., to the models that describe individuals in the population as having specific parameter (trait) values that vary from one individuals to another. This is a natural framework to model, e.g., heterogeneity in susceptibility or infectivity of individuals. We review, along with the necessary the...

On the spread of epidemics in a closed heterogeneous population.

Heterogeneity is an important property of any population experiencing a disease. Here we apply general methods of the theory of heterogeneous populations to the simplest mathematical models in epidemiology. In particular, an SIR (susceptible-infective-removed) model is formulated and analyzed when susceptibility to or infectivity of a particular disease is distributed. It is shown that a hetero...

Epidemic spreading with nonlinear infectivity in weighted scale-free networks

In this paper, we investigate the epidemic spreading for SIR model in weighted scale-free networks with nonlinear infectivity, where the transmission rate in our analytical model is weighted. Concretely, we introduce the infectivity exponent α and the weight exponent β into the analytical SIR model, then examine the combination effects of α and β on the epidemic threshold and phase transition. ...

Dynamics of a Delayed Epidemic Model with Beddington-DeAngelis ‎Incidence Rate and a Constant Infectious Period

In this paper, an SIR epidemic model with an infectious period and a non-linear Beddington-DeAngelis type incidence rate function is considered. The dynamics of this model depend on the reproduction number R0. Accurately, if R0 < 1, we show the global asymptotic stability of the disease-free equilibrium by analyzing the corresponding characteristic equation and using compa...
